Rainbow Montessori School

Rainbow Montessori School in Woodinville is a Preschool and Kindergarten for children ages 3-6. Rainbow was founded by Renate Chadwick in 1983 in Redmond and expanded to its current location in Woodinville, Washington in 1991. When Renate opened Rainbow Montessori School in 1983, her daughter Barbara was 5 years old and was one of the first students in her class. 25 years later, Barbara joined the staff and fell in love with teaching! Renate retired in 2021 and Barbara stepped in as director.

In our mixed-age classrooms, our certified teachers are able to meet each child’s individual needs by providing materials for a wide range of developmental levels. We value independence and try to help our students develop habits of initiative and persistence. Our goal is to provide each child with the foundation for a life of joyful learning. 

The habits and skills that children develop in the Montessori classroom are meant for a lifetime; helping them observe more carefully, work more efficiently, and concentrate more effectively. The little people who come to understand and engage constructively with their small-scale environment have a good chance of becoming the adults who are able to understand and interact in a wide and wondrous world.
